Red Flag Warning In Sherman Oaks Until 10 p.m. Tuesday

Wind gusts in the San Fernando Valley could reach up to 50 mph according to the National Weather Service.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — As gusty winds continue to buffet Los Angeles County in the presence of low humidity, the National Weather Service has again issued a Red Flag Warning for much of the region. In Sherman Oaks, the warning will be in place through 10 p.m. Tuesday night.

Red Flag Warnings indicate an elevated fire risk, which officials sorely hope to avoid after one of the most brutal fire seasons in the history of California. In the San Fernando Valley, NWS said winds could gust up to 50 mph, with isolated gusts in the foothills possibly reaching 60 mph.

"If fire ignition occurs, conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread, long range spotting, and extreme fire behavior which would threaten life and property," NWS said.
