Strip Mall Unit Badly Damaged In Sherman Oaks Fire
Firefighters limited the amount of damage to adjacent buildings, with only one receiving minor exterior damage.
SHERMAN OAKS, CA — A building fire badly damaged a unit in a Sherman Oaks one-story strip mall Monday evening. The fire was reported around 5:11 p.m. near the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Ventura Boulevard, adjacent to the 405 freeway.
Fire was already showing from the unit when firefighters arrived, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Crews managed to limit the spread of the fire to other units, with only one other adjacent business receiving minor exterior damage according to LAFD.
70 firefighters used an "interior and rooftop attack," and a knockdown was called at 5:34 p.m. The original building sustained major damage, but no injuries were reported.
