The Valley Of Change To Host March Cleanup In Tamir Rice' Honor

The organization is asking community members to bring out their brooms and pans to help clean the neighborhood this weekend.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — The Valley of Change and prospective congresswoman Aarika Rhodes will host their monthly community cleanup Sunday morning as they look to beautify the neighborhood. This month's event will be held in honor of Tamir Rice, the Chicago boy who was fatally shot by police in 2014.

The cleanup will run from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m., and will start at the intersection of Kester and Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks. Attendees are asked to bring push brooms and dust pans, while donuts will be provided on-site.

"This March, we will be honoring Tamir Rice, a 12 year old African American boy who was killed by the police for holding a toy gun," Rhodes wrote. "His legacy is a reminder that we should do all we can to ensure that everyone is granted dignity, respect and life."
