Alverno Heights Academy Students to Host AP Art Show
On Friday, May 12, each of the students will have the opportunity to showcase a small collection at the Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre.

Over the course of the last year, four Alverno Heights Academy students have been working incredibly hard to complete their Advanced Placement (AP) Studio Art Portfolios featuring a variety of different works of art. On Friday, May 12, each of the students will have the opportunity to showcase a small collection at the Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre.
Seniors Jennifer Guan, Julia Landis, Alicia Lindheimer, and Kris Wu have each created a portfolio featuring 24 pieces of original art that ranges from collage to photography to sketching to painting. From this larger collection, each student selected a handful of pieces that will be shown at the exhibit opening on Friday, May 12. That evening, the girls will set up an Artists’ Reception to welcome their friends, family, classmates, and members of the local community to view the beautiful and unique work they have created since August.
“Showcasing their work is such a monumental part of creating these portfolios,” said Tim Lewis P’19, AP Studio Art Teacher and Visual and Performing Arts Department Chair. “Through the entire process, these young artists learn the value of not only creating incredibly vibrant and innovative pieces of art, but also the importance of being able to relate that work and passion to someone seeing it for the first time. The pieces they have created are unique and I look forward to seeing the direction their art takes as they move on to college next year.”
