More Than a Week Without a Burglary in Sierra Madre

Normally, it would not be news to pass a week without a residential burglary in Sierra Madre, but following an outbreak of property crime earlier this month that resulted in four arrests, it's worth noting the last recorded burglary in Sierra Madre was August 17.

There was a police containment and search for a burglary suspect on August 19, last Monday, but no actual break-in on that day.

Over the last week, there was a bike stolen from a carport and two vehicle thefts, according to the Sierra Madre Police Department blotter, but no burglaries.

That's a big change from earlier this month, from August 1 through the last burglary on August 17 there were eight break-ins at Sierra Madre homes, according to data from the crimereports.com website.

During and leading up to that time the police also made three arrests, one on August 5 and another of two men on July 31.  The city held a forum on the increase in crime two Fridays ago.

Sgt. Ruben Enriquez of the Sierra Madre Police Department noted that the department has consistently had officers out in the field to be responsive to burglary calls in the last few week.
