Sheriff's Department to Take Over Patrol Over Night in Sierra Madre
The Sierra Madre Police Department will still provide service in the city during the day.

Evening and overnight patrols in Sierra Madre will be handled by deputies from the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Temple Station as of Monday, authorities said Thursday.
Deputies will patrol the city from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., according to the sheriff’s department.
The Sierra Madre Police Department will continue to provide police service in the city each day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to Deputy Hector Figueroa of the Temple Station.

The move to temporarily contract with the sheriff’s department was approved by the Sierra Madre City Council on Tuesday, according to the Pasadena Star-News, which reported that nine of the city’s 20 full-time officers have left the department in the last several months.
Police Chief Larry Giannone has said the city is aggressively recruiting new officers, but the process will take time, according to the Star-News.
