Sierra Madre Man Arrested for Attempted Arson in Arcadia

Police say the suspect was found with matches in his pocket and had place twigs and sticks underneath a large tree to start a fire.

A Sierra Madre man was arrested in Arcadia for attempted arson.

According to police, Arcadia Police responded to the call of a suspicious person on the property of the U.S. Forestry Headquarters around 7:30 a.m. Saturday. Officers contacted a man who had matches in his pocket and had gathered kindling, twigs and sticks and stacked them underneath a large tree to start a fire, police said.

The man, identified as 59-year-old Ronald Watson was arrested. Police say Watson was on parole for arson.

He is currently being held at the L.A. County Jail without bail.
