5K-10K Run and Walk to be Held in Lynwood
The run and walk was supposed to have been held in February.

The “MyLynwood: Healthy Cities 5K/10K Run& Walk” is set to take place on June 1, 2013. This event, which is being carried out by the city of Lynwood and Century Sheriff’s Station, is the first time that both entities have worked together on a project that is not related to public safety.
“The City of Lynwood’s 5K/10K Run & Walk on June 1, 2013 will be the first time the City partners with the Century Station on a project that has nothing to do with fighting crime,” wrote Marisela Santana, public information officer for the city of Lynwood.
The race was originally scheduled to take place in early February, but was canceled due to fears related to the Christopher Dorner manhunt.

The proceeds raised from the event will benefiting the Century Sheriff’s Station’s Baker to Vegas Running Team, which recently won first place at the Challenge Cup/Baker to Vegas Relay Race that took from April 13 to 14.
“This new collaboration also takes the City’s Healthy Cities Initiative to another level,” stated Santana.

The Greater Lynwood Chamber of Commerce (GLCC) will also be a beneficiary, as this is event has also been described as a fundraiser for them. The GLCC plans to provide a free pancake breakfast for the registered runners in the morning of the race as a thank you for the funds.
The race expects to receive more than 400 runners from the surrounding region.
This will also count with the participation of two up and coming actors from Telemundo’s Channel 52 Spanish soap opera, “Hasta Que El Dinero Nos Separe.” Both actors, Ramon Valdez and Hugo Aceves, are being sponsored by Clinica San Miguel in an effort to promote the clinic's weight loss program.
