American Legion "Let Freedom Ring" 100th Anniversary Celebration

The Let Freedom Ring event took place on June 29th from 4:00p.m.-10:00p.m. at American Legion Post #335 located at 9535 California Ave. South Gate, CA 90280.

The American Legion has been a consistent advocate for veterans, their families, and friends.

The American Legion was founded on the four pillars of caring for veterans, maintaining a strong national defense, Americanism, and caring for children and youth.

The American Legion Post#335 has accomplished these goals by continued advocacy for veterans, at local, state, and federal levels. Post #335 has offered mentoring and merit badge counseling to the South Gate Boy Scouts. They also offer work space and Girl Scout Troop 1553 meeting areas. In addition, to assisting local nonprofits and fundraising efforts throughout the City Of South Gate.

The men and women of Post #335 served their country now work hard on a continued volunteer basis to serve their community. Post #335 was recognized by the Office of Supervisor Hilda Solis for their contributions, which was presented by a fellow Legionaire and District Director/Veteran Liason Antonio Chapa. Post#335 also recently received a Proclamation from South Gate City Council for their achievements. South Gate Chamber of Commerce presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Post #335.

Congresswoman for 44th District Nanette Barragan stopped by to show her ongoing support for South Gate Legionaires as well.
