CHP Officer Injured in Crash, Second Driver Under Arrest
A woman is suspected of being under the influence when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a California Highway Patrol car.

A California Highway Patrol officer suffered minor injuries and a BMW driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after losing control of her car and striking the CHP officer in his patrol car on the Harbor (110) Freeway in an unincorporated county area near Carson, an officer said today.
The collision occurred about 5:15 p.m. Sunday on the southbound Harbor Freeway south of 223rd Street, said CHP Officer S. Vargas of the South Los Angeles Area office.
"Stephanie Cassick, 23, Carson, was driving a 1989 BMW, traveling ahead of the officer's location at a high rate of speed. Ms. Cassick failed to maintain her roadway position and traveled out of control to strike the right side of the patrol vehicle," Vargas said. Both vehicles became disabled in lanes. The officer and Cassick were transported to nearby Harbor UCLA Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
