L.A. County Gasoline Prices Rise For Eighth Day

By City News Service

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the eighth consecutive day, increasing 1 cent to $4.115.

The average price is 7.3 cents more than one week ago, 9.2 cents higher than one month ago and 35.9 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has risen 7.7 cents over the past eight days, including 1 cent on Wednesday. The Orange County average price also rose for the eighth consecutive day today, increasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.097.

It is 7.1 cents more than one week ago, 9.5 cents higher than one month ago and 37 cents greater than one year ago. The Orange County average price has risen 8 cents over the past eight days, including 1.1 cents on Wednesday.

The rising prices stem from concerns over supplies caused by "exports of refined gasoline to more profitable markets overseas and continued refinery issues,'' according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
