LASD Arrests 63 in Lynwood DUI Checkpoint
Close to 1974 drivers passed through the weekend checkpoint on Long Beach Boulevard and the Glenn Anderson Freeway.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) carried out a DUI/DL checkpoint on Friday, April 19, 2013, on Long Beach Boulevard with the gLENN Anderson 105 Freeway.
“The goal of the DUI/DL Checkpoint was removing impaired drivers and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol,” wrote Sergeant Rich Peña of the LASD.
The LASD checked 1074 vehicles of the 1974 that passed through. The checkpoint resulted with in 63 arrests.

The following is an official list of the charges:
-2 suspects were arrested for illegal possession of narcotics.

-11 suspended/revoked drivers were arrested and sent to court.
-39 unlicensed drivers were arrested and sent to court.
-4 suspects were arrested for knowingly allowing an unlicensed driver to drive, 14604(a) CVC.
-2 suspects were arrested for driving a vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock device as required by law, 23247(e) CVC.
-1 suspect was arrested for an outstanding spousal battery warrant, 243(e)(1) PC.
-11 vehicles were impounded for 30 days.
-25 vehicles were stored for 1 day
This was one of many checkpoints that have been carried out or are being plannedfor this year in Lynwood.
