Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), conducted a checkpoint last Saturday, July 20, 2013, on the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and the 105 Freeway in Lynwood
Authorities estimate that about 3237 vehicles passed through the checkpoint during its hours of operation.

“The goal of the DUI/DL Checkpoint was removing impaired drivers,” said the LASD press release. “To bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol”
The deputies arrested 33 out of the 1985 drivers that were checked.

Below are the offenses that drivers were charged with as listed by the LASD release:
2 DUI – Drug (Marijuana) Suspects Arrested
2 Suspects were Arrested for Knowingly Allowing an Unlicensed Driver to Drive, 14602(a) CVC
2 Illegal Possession of Narcotics Suspects Arrested
1 Suspect was Arrested for Transportation of Narcotics for Sales
5 Suspended / Revoked Drivers were Arrested and Sent to Court
21 Unlicensed Drivers were Arrested and Sent to Court
5 Vehicles were Impounded for 30 Days
6 Vehicles were Stored for 1 Day
16 Vehicles were Released to the Registered Owners per Checkpoint Release Procedures
