LASD To Investigate Ice-Cream Truck Noise Complaints in Lynwood

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) told Patch that they will help address noise complaints associated with late night ice-cream trucks.
“We are looking into these complaints,” said Lieutenant Chavez of the LASD. “They need to abide by the rules of the council and the municipal code.”

Last year, the LASD along with Lynwood code enforcement carried out an operation where citations were issued to some ice cream trucks after it was discovered that they were also selling replica guns and other toys.
“Most of the trucks were in compliance,” said Lt. Chavez. “There were no major criminal violations, and no arrests”

During the course of 2013, the LASD has not received any complaints about the toys, but was informed of noise concerns by Lynwood Councilmember Aide Castro, who also briefly mentioned it during a July 16 council meeting.
So far South Gate has had no complaints about ice-cream trucks selling toy guns or for noise pollution, said Captain Keith Hupp of the South Gate Police Department (SGPD) in an email.
