In 1913, eight years before Lynwood officially came a city, the Lynwood Company was founded. It’s owners open 800 acres of suburban homesites that sold for $500 to $800. The Lynwood Company brought in potential buyers on excursions in double decker buses.

Even though the City of Lynwood became incorporated in 1921, it wasn’t until 1946 when the City began issuing home occupation licenses to resident and patrons.
From the book: “Images of America: Lynwood,” In 1952, the assessed (land) valuation totaled $23 million. There were 8,000 dwellings and 12,000 registered voters. In 1990, Lynwood’s population approached 70,000 residents and 14,432 households.” In 1988, the land valuation of Lynwood totaled $785,545,000.

Today, Lynwood’s official population based on the latest estimates from the US Census bureau is 69,887 and 15,405 households. The median property value is $371,000.
