Sheriff's detectives today were investigating the shooting death of a man in the unincorporated Los Angeles County community of Firestone Park, east of South L.A. and west of South Gate.
The man was found in the 8600 block of Grape Street about 8:48 p.m. Thursday and transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said Deputy Crystal Hernandez, a Los Angeles County sheriff's spokeswoman.Â
His name was withheld pending family notification.

Authorities did not immediately determine if the shooting was gang-related.
Anyone with information on the slaying was urged to call the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
