Teacher Tells Kids Military Members 'Lowest Of Our Low' (Watch)
Councilman and teacher Gregory Salcido also told his students that members of the military are not "high-level thinkers."
PICO RIVERA, CA — A Pico Rivera councilman and teacher was recorded on video telling his students that members of the military are not "high-level thinkers” and are "the frickin’ lowest of our low." The three videos of Gregory Salcido, which were reportedly recorded by one of his students at El Rancho High School Jan. 19, were shared Friday and have since been viewed more than 4 million times.
Salcido tells his students: "We got a bunch of dumb----- over there. Think about the people who you know are over there," he says. "Your frickin' stupid Uncle Louie or whoever; they're dumb-----. They're not, like, high-level thinkers. They're not academic people. They're not intellectual people. They're the frickin' lowest of our low."
Salcido goes on to say the military members aren't immoral, but says they're not "talented people." He also took issue with the fact that U.S. presidents say America has the best military in the world.

"No we don't," he tells the classroom. "The data is in, we don't have a good military."
Salcido says America hasn't been able to "beat anyone since World War II," and cites America's conflicts in Vietnam and the Middle East as evidence the military isn't as great as politicians make it out to be.

"It's a lie that our military is frickin' b-----n'," he says in the video.
In a second video, Salcido says students who ultimately join the military did so because they didn't do what they needed to do in school.
"If you join the military, it's because you have no other options," he says. "Because you didn't take care of business academically. Because your parents didn't love you enough to push you. And you didn't love yourself enough to push yourself."
Now the district is promising to discipline Salcido.
Karling Aguilera-Fort, superintendent of El Rancho Unified School District, confirmed to The Orange County Register on Saturday that the person speaking in the video is Salcido, and that he was talking in one of their classrooms. Aguilera-Fort said he learned of the video Friday and that they have tried to contact Salcido.
“We have reached out to Mr. Salcido but have not been able to talk to him because he is out of town,” Aguilera-Fort told the newspaper.
The district is investigating, he said, but declined to say what punishment Salcido would face because it was a "personnel matter."
On Friday, Salcido posted a statement to his personal Facebook page saying: “I don’t think it’s wise for me to make any comments, but I want my friends, family, and students to know we are fine and we respect the rights of free expression for all individuals.”
Salcido was first elected to the city council in 1999.
Mayor Gustavo Camacho said in a release that the city council and its residents remain "steadfast" in respecting and recognizing the contributions of their military members.
