New Buildings to be Built in Two Lynwood Schools
Construction on the buildings will begin in May.

The Lynwood Unified School District (LUSD) has announced that construction on two new school buildings is set to begin on May 11. Funds from the recently passed Measure K will be used to finance the buildings.
Both Washington and Lincoln elementary schools are to get a new building each to replace the temporary classrooms that are currently located within their grounds.
“These improvements are long overdue,” said Maria G. Lopez, the President of the LUSD Board of Education in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be able to provide our community with these very important upgrades.”

At Washington Elementary School, 29 portable classrooms will be removed and replaced with two buildings with two-stories each. While in Lincoln Elementary School, a total of 17 portable classrooms and restrooms are to be replaced with a one two-story building.
The buildings are expected to be finished within 18 months.
The LUSD warns that some students and employees at both schools will be relocated to temporary classrooms during the construction.
“We know this will be an inconvenience, but we’re grateful for your patience as we provide the much-needed improvements at these campuses,” said LUSD Superintendent Edward Velasquez.
