South Gate City Council Elections are Too Close to Call
The congressional and assembly races looked like they are decided already . South Gate city council has a virtual neck and neck to the end.

While the votes are still be counted many South Gate voters are still in limbo on who will be their next city council representatives. In the congressional race for the 44th district it is not even close with current incumbent Rep. Barragan taking 62.53% of the votes and will most definitely win another term.
In the assembly race Anthony Rendon has over a 15% lead against challenger Maria Estrada. These two will face off again in November in what looks like will be a very tight race.

The South Gate city council race has a mixture of current and former city council members and new challengers. Councilwoman Maria Davil has secured a win with a current lead of over 500 votes from the the next candidate. Jose De La Paz with only 10.09% of the vote is pretty much out of this race already. The best and most interesting part is 311 votes separate 4th from 2nd with 2 seats remaining. Former councilman Gil Hurtado is currently in 2nd place and lost a little ground but is steadily maintaining his position right now. Maria Avalos is 151 votes away from Gil Hurtado and has a 137 vote lead from current Mayor Belen Benal. Maria Avalos has serged in the past few updates and is carrying a very high momentum right now. Current Mayor Belen Bernal and Melissa Alvarado, who, has been surging in the race also, are still within close striking distance to get a win and a seat in the race.

The way it looks right now it's a nail bitter to say the least and nobody is claiming victory until the final count is done and made official by the county later this month.
