South Gate City Council Meetings Are An Unsafe Circus
The first and last South Gate City Council meeting I will ever attend. No security, No class, No wonder nothing gets done.

I attended my very first South Gate City Council meeting, this past Tuesday on the 25th of February. There was more people than I expected in attendance. I was told by others that only a handful of people attend these meetings. I was very happy about it and I was very eager to see for myself how decisions are made. I had my copy of the agenda and I was very lucky to be sitting next to a very nice older woman who explained everything as it was happening. I found out there is a private special meeting before the regular meeting. I was told the special meeting is for lawsuits and negotiations from the city. It started out as expected Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and a prayer.
After that was the Public Comment, or as I now call it the CIRCUS.

So this is how it works, during this time you can go up and ask questions or make a comment and you have 5 minutes to do this. I will start off by saying that some of these people really need some anger management help. I felt bad for the first lady because she was trembling and looked in real bad shape. I was thinking maybe she might have been scared of the people there because there really was a lot of angry crazy looking faces there. I couldn't really hear most of it because of some of the people were just talking out loud. The main topic was the South Gate Junior Athletic Association. A line of people started talking about, surprisingly, most of the topics in my last article. They were yelling, screaming, and just wildly making very rude and distasteful comments. After they spoke they went back to their seats and kept interrupting other people talking to the point, where the city officials had to tell them to calm down several times. It felt like I was in a Kinder class but these people were adults. They continued to talk about things that had nothing to do with anything, it was just a circus. One of the crazy people, in particular was upset over a council persons pet dog of all things. I think he was also upset because he wanted to be a marine but I don't think the city has any control of that. I really could not understand what his point was but he looked like he had trouble speaking. I think the City of South Gate should have a person to assist these persons who have special needs. Especially since most of the crowd was so loud and inappropriate. They must have been so scared.

My new friend told me the people speaking out the most were the Board Members from the SGJAA. I couldn't believe it, because they were so vulgar and looked like trouble makers, but it was true. As they were sitting down we could hear the anger in their voices and the cursing was unbelievable. These are the people that run a youth program? Do they speak like this in front of the kids? Is this the example they are setting for the community? They were even walking up and down the aisles just staring at people( Mad dogging). I saw no security and at that point it wasn't a safe place to be. It's no wonder there have been so many questions about SGJAA. From my first encounter I can see it so clearly.
Get it together City of South Gate you can do better.
