St. Francis Medical Center (SFMC) is now one of the first hospitals in Los Angeles County to have 3D mammography, which is the most advanced form of breast cancer screening that is currently available.

“Breast tomosynthesis produces a three-dimensional view of the breast tissue that helps radiologists identify and characterize individual breast structures without the confusion of overlapping tissue,” said Najib Elsouki, director of Imaging Services at SFMC. “Benefits include a significantly higher cancer detection rate than conventional 2D mammography alone.”
