Victim of Lynwood Shooting is Named

Los Angeles County Coroners have released the victim who was found a Lynwood Street.

A man who authorities say was shot to death in a Lynwood street by a man with whom he may have been arguing was identified today by the coroner's office.

He was Charles DeJon Finch, 34, of Los Angeles, said coroner's Lt. Joe Bale.

Finch was found lying near the back passenger door of a car in the 12400 block of Bullis Road near Carlin Avenue, at about 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, said Deputy Kim Manatt of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

The shooting was reported in the 12400 block of Bullis Road near Carlin Avenue, according to Deputy Kim Manatt of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

"A deputy from the Century Sheriff's Station was patrolling in the area when he heard the sound of gunshots," Manatt said. "The deputy drove in the direction of the gunshots and when he reached the location, he was flagged down by a witness who pointed out the victim, who was lying in the northbound lane of Bullis Road suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene."

"According to the witness, the victim and the suspect had stopped and exited their respective cars in the middle of the road and began arguing with each other. Suddenly the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim," she said. "The suspect then got into his car and drove away northbound on Bullis Road. The suspect was described as a tall male black driving a red sedan," she said.

The victim could be seen lying on the street near the passenger door of a car, a news photographer reported from the scene.
