LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will be a "visiting fellow'' this fall at Harvard's Institute of Politics, where he will lead discussions and participate in study groups with the university's students, it was announced today.
Former U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda L. Solis, another Los Angeles area politician, will also be serving a short-term stint as a visiting fellow at Harvard, according to the university.
Villaraigosa and Solis will join a group of "resident fellows'' who will be living at the university, including Massachusetts area Sen. Mo Cowan, Google executive Ginny Hunt, journalist Sasha Issenberg and Beth Myers, an adviser to former presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
Banc of California, a community bank with headquarters in Beverly Hills and Irvine, announced last month that Villaraigosa had been hired as an adviser to CEO Steven Sugarman. His compensation was not revealed.
Villaraigosa, 60, is receiving a pension of $8,115 per month for an annual payment of $97,380, according to the Los Angeles City Employee Retirement System.
After serving two terms as mayor of Los Angeles, Villaraigosa was forced by term limits to leave office on June 30.
