1. Author Night 

Marjorie Lord, the Golden Age actress known for her role as Kathy “Clancy” Williams in the “Make Room for Daddy” television series during the 1950s and 1960s, will discuss her memoir, “A Dance and a Hug,” on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. in the Community Room behind the South Pasadena Public Library. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session with the author.

The weekly South Pasadena Farmers Market will be held today, Thursday, at and around the intersection of Mission Street and Meridian from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. From fresh produce and flowers to food and entertainment, it’s the perfect way to kick start the weekend.

3. Ice Cream Social

Mark your calendars: The South Pasadena Senior Center, located at 1102 Oxley St., will host an ice cream social sponsored by AGA Medicare Options on Friday, Aug. 30. Local agencies that work with older adults will provide the ice cream and representatives will be on hand to answer any questions. The event is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. and is free of cost. Questions? 4. Oneonta Congregational Church family movie night

The Oneonta Congregational Church, located on 1515 Garfield Ave., will host an outdoor screening of the ageless family favorite Mary Poppins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. The film will be screened free of cost on the church premise’s front lawn. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring lawn chairs and blankets. 5. South Pasadena High School Tiger Bingo

The South Pasadena High School Tiger Booster Club is organizing its weekly Tiger Bingo at the South Pasadena High School gym, 1401 Diamond Ave., on Saturday, Aug. 31, starting at 6 p.m. Players will have 22 chances to win at least $250 playing Bingo, Speedball, Tiger T and Triple Double. Tickets cost $15 per person. Tiger Bingo helps raise funds for Tiger Booster Club, a non-profit organization that has encouraged parent participation and supported athletic and extracurricular programs at South Pasadena High School for almost 50 years.
