South Pasadena High School defeated Camarillo to grab the CIF Southern Section Division III crown on Saturday -- the first in the boys' team's history.
The Tigers cemented a victory in their third trip to the final round with a 27-25, 25-13, 26-24 win over Camarillo at Santiago Canyon College, according to the Pasadena Sun. The article points out that Coach Ben Diaz motivated the boys by reminding them of last year's defeat, when the Scorpions booted them from the playoffs 29-31, 25-21, 25-20, 25-17.
"I wasn't intimidated by [Camarillo] at all,'' Diaz told the newspaper.
