The South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to host a “ShopTalk” today, Tuesday, starting at 8 a.m. at Mike & Anne’s, 1040 Mission St. The event is aimed at meeting potential customers, clients and fellow Chamber members. The main topic to be presented at the meeting is The Gas Company Advanced Meter Project, regarding the installation of upgraded natural gas meters in South Pasadena this fall. The Black Tongued Bells, a band that derives its name from a line in the Dylan Thomas poem, I See the Boys of Summer, will give a performance this coming Thursday, Sept. 5, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the lawn facing the Community Room in Library Park at 1115 El Centro St. The band will play its trademark “American swamp music,” a blend of rock, blues, Motown, Cajun and Gospel that makes them sound like “The Rolling Stones if they were from Louisiana.” The South Pasadena Arts Council (SPARC), the South Pasadena Public Library, and the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library are partnering to present the free event, which is SPARC’s Third Annual “End of Summer Concert.” Click here for further details.
4. SPHS Booster Club
The South Pasadena High School Booster Club’s second annual Booster Bash is on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Molinas, 1311 Chelten Way. Tickets are $40 per person and $50 at the door.
