You may think that fireworks are only seen on the fourth of July, but I can guarantee you I've seen them shoot off the heads of some of my massage clients in multi colored array.
Seriously, where does all this stress come from anyway? A woman is directing me in how to perform her massage step by step as she puts on a fireworks show at the same time. We are not making a movie, so stop directing me and benefit from my years of experience.
If you want to know what's in it for you, then get out of your own way and learn something.
Twenty minutes into the massage and she tells me she forgot about her stress. Ideally she needs to transform her perception of it. Otherwise the same belief system that brought her into the massage room is going to leave with her and rear its ugly head in just a matter of time.
Stress does not begin in the body.
It's like when you rearrange your living room furniture and stand back and say, "I never realized that window gave a better view from that angle." Or you say, "There is much more space to move around in now."
Beyond the surface of temporary relief are longer lasting results when a skilled massage therapist is able to focus beyond the clients' immediate demands. Silence isn't always golden, but a lot of fireworks are. Better to be safe and sane than to never learn why the sparks continue to stress you out.
