1. Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library Holiday Book Sale
Mark your calendars: The Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library is kicking off its annual Holiday Book Sale on Friday, Nov. 22, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Library Community Room located at 1115 El Centro St. This will be the sale's preview night only for members of the Friends of the Library, so if you are not a member and want to get the earliest possible chance to purchase gift-quality books, you can buy a membership at the door. The sale will continue on Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., following which, starting Monday, the books will be moved to the main floor of the library until the end of December.

Do you know that "Moms for Family and Community," a homegrown group, has called on the South Pasadena City Council to stop the proliferation of massage establishments in light of the possibility that the soon-to-close Blockbuster store on Fair Oaks might be replaced by what would be the city's 15th massage business?
