I saw the most amazing works of art today. They were made of nuts and bolts, some with old knifes and spoons. Each piece was uniquely welded together creating a masterpiece of art. Who knew? Apparently the artist Robert Burgert didn't know either, when seven years ago he began welding his newly found artwork in his garage as a therapeutic means of coping with his personal challenges.
There is so much wonder in his pieces that you have to really take your time and look very close at the immense detail that he carefully put into creating each one of them. A life size guitar, a professional looking camera, there is even an elegant high heel shoe made of scrap metal parts, imagine!
I met Robert and his lovely wife Bella, today at the South Pasadena Arts Crawl on Mission street. I found them both to be very personable and warm. Just as Robert's one of a kind art work called out to me as I walked up to the booth, so too did their sincere personalities.

When my daughter was an art major in college she taught me that the gift of artistry is not solely a beautiful golden framed painting, but rather the golden heart of the artist, who can bring forth the beauty of art where ever it may be.
