VIDEO: Meet South Pas Artist Laurie Hendricks

You may recognize Laurie Hendricks from walks on Mission Street. She often spends Saturday mornings painting outside her gallery space at

"The lighting is always different ... just depending on the time of day and the atmosphere. So you capture these moments in time. It's really kind of exciting," she says of painting en plein air. 

Her artwork, which includes oil portraits of nature, family and South Pas staples like the Rialto, adds an authentic feel to the home decor store.  

Hendricks has been painting and teaching art in South Pas since the '80s. But it wasn't her first passion. You may also recognize her from roles in Fast Times at Ridegmont High or Days of Our Lives. 

These days, she spends her time traveling and recreating the world around her.
