Meditation

Come back to yourself

There are familiar sayings. ‘What happens to your body tomorrow is a result of your thoughts today.’ Perhaps you’ve heard, ‘Your thoughts become things.’ I have always believed as a massage therapist that your thoughts become knots.

It's going to take a whole lot more than a body rub to bring society back from the depths of inner scar tissue left by the pandemic. Throughout this past year your mind and body have endured so much through out shutdown after shutdown. It's not normal to be distanced from one another, nor is it healthy. I feel it in my clients during their massage sessions. The hidden anger, fear, anxiety. In knowing that, we need to elevate ourselves spiritually.

No, I don’t have an app for that, but I do have something better, meditation.

All those aches and pains you are feeling now, were but seeds being planted along the way, and they could use some uprooting. We could use some help reconnecting not just to one another but to our inner selves.

Meditation before a massage targets busy thoughts, and you gain more focus. Now, you are participating in your treatment rather than being solely the recipient. That’s the difference in a holistic treatment verses an alternative one.

When you think about it, your body will reciprocate.
It’s been a long year, let’s turn back the clock and start a new, naturally. Most people don’t fully relax until at least fifteen minutes into their massage session, that doesn’t leave much time left to unwind after that.
Especially now, when protective shields make it difficult to penetrate the muscles. By meditating prior to your massage, not only have you allowed your body to circulate, but you have given your mind the fresh clarity it needs. That's a healthy beginning.
