Pair Suspected In South Pasadena Burglary Arrested

SOUTH PASADENA, CA — A parolee and a woman were facing burglary charges Friday after being arrested in Glendale and police suspect they have targeted a number of businesses in South Pasadena, San Marino and Glendale.

Ken Villafuerte, 24, and Rose Moreno, 18, both of Los Angeles, were arrested on Saturday, after officers responded around 12:25 a.m. to investigate a report of a burglary that had just occurred in the 900 block of West Glenoaks Boulevard, according to Glendale Police Department Sgt. Dan Suttles.

Witnesses reported seeing the suspects burglarize a business, and a Glendale police helicopter spotted the suspects' vehicle, which was followed by ground units as it was driven "recklessly through intersections," according to Suttles.

"When the vehicle eventually came to a stop, the suspects attempted to flee the scene on foot and they were taken into custody," the sergeant said.

Villafuerte was found to be on parole for assault resulting in great bodily injury, according to Suttles.

"Officers located various items in the vehicle that had been reported stolen by several businesses including nail polish, a cash register and various products from a smoke shop," Suttles said.

Businesses in Glendale experienced losses totaling $13,892.55, which includes stolen property and windows broken in the course of breaking into the properties, Suttles said.

"In addition to burglaries that occurred in South Pasadena and San Marino, these two suspects are believed to be linked to eight separate burglaries in the city of Glendale..." since Oct. 8, Suttles said.

Villafuerte was being held on $205,000 bail at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic, while Moreno was out of custody after posting $20,000 bond Monday, according to sheriff's inmate records.
