Police Arrest Man Allegedly Smoking Pot on Angeles Crest Highway

The suspect carried a doctor's recommendation for the medical marijuana, the crime report states.

A South Pasadena man with a doctor's recommendation for marijuana was arrested after deputies found the drug in a concentrated form in his car, according to a Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station crime report.

Deputies spotted Nathan Edward Garner, 21, stopped at a turnout on Angeles Crest Highway about 10:30 p.m. on May 27. When they approached Garner, they smelled marijuana wafting near the car and saw Garner in possession of a glass pipe, the report states. Garner told the deputies that he had a doctor's recommendation for the drug, and showed them the paperwork.

According to the report, Garner told police, ''Oh, this is just weed, and I have a permit for it.''

Garner gave consent to search his vehicle, at which point deputies found hashish in his console. Hashish is a concentrated form of cannabis. Garner was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.
