South Pasadena Unified School District will chiefly use monies received from Proposition 30 to fund instructional salaries at the individual schools, according to Tuesday night's agenda.
The Education Protection Account (EPA) is the result of the proposition's passage in November. Scott Price, assistant superintendent of business, is set to discuss the EPA during a public hearing Tuesday. Prop 30 provided funding to districts, with officials appropriating the monies for any educational purpose. However the funds cannot be used for administrator salaries or administration activities.
According to a district resolution, South Pas' EPA funds will be spent in support of the instructional program, "namely for instructional personnel salaries at school sites.''
The board will vote on the resolution at its June 25 meeting. To read the resolution, please click here.
In other board news Tuesday, architect Jim Stinson is expected to discuss the options and costs for additional science classrooms at South Pasadena High School. The options include: a three-classroom building on the practice field; a four-classroom, L-shaped building on the practice field; and a four-classroom, two-story building on the southeast corner of campus.
