Suspect Arrested In Violent South Pasadena Jewelry Store Robbery

Police are still looking for another man believed to have been involved in a stabbing and attempted robbery in South Pasadena.

SOUTH PASADENA, CA — Authorities have arrested one of two men suspected of trying to rob and stab the owner of a South Pasadena jewelry store -- an attack that was caught on surveillance video, police said Wednesday.

The attack occurred at 10:55 a.m. Friday at Vana Watch and Jewelry at 1401 Mission St.

Security video showed two men milling about the store for nearly five minutes before one of them attempts to stab the proprietor.

"I didn't feel comfortable so I came out from the back to the floor and my nephew was in the background and one of them pulled out a knife," owner Jean Boujekian told ABC7.

Boujekian was able to keep the suspect from stabbing him and his nephew grabbed a gun and chased the suspects out of the store.

The suspects fled the location in a green Chevrolet Malibu that was spotted on Tuesday in Compton.

Deputies pulled the car over and detained the driver and sole occupant, who was later identified as 21-year-old Omar Teriq Bradley of Compton, according to the South Pasadena Police Department, which sent detectives to take custody of the young man.

Bradley was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, police said. According to sheriff's inmate records, he was being held at the Inmate Reception Center in downtown Los Angeles in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Detectives were seeking the outstanding suspect, who was the one who brandished the knife during the robbery attempt.
