Track: Pons and Moussa among tops in their divisions

CIF-Southern Section released its team and individual rankings Tuesday.

As we approach track and field's postseason the CIF-Southern Section released its team and individual rankings Tuesday. The rankings are broken down by division.

It's no surprise that both Arcadia's Ammar Moussa and South Pasadena's Sam Pons were ranked the top athletes in their respective divisions. Moussa is tied for second in Division I, while Pons is ranked in the same spot in Division III.

The Apaches and Tigers boys teams also were ranked. Arcadia at No. 7 in Division I, and South Pasadena at No. 3 in Division III.

On the girls side, La Salle tied for ninth in the Divisin IV team rankings. The Lancers' Itohan Aikhionbare is ranked No. 6.

The following team and individual rankings are based through meets as of April 30. Points are based on the 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 scoring system used through eight places at the divisional championships.
