3,000 PG&E Customers Lose Power in Colma and South San Francisco After Car Crash

The crash happened near the South San Francisco BART station, but BART service has not been affected by the power outage.

A vehicle crash in Colma knocked down power lines and more than 3,000 residents and businesses in the area have lost power, police and PG&E officials said.

Colma police said a crash in the 1400 block of Old Mission Road knocked live power lines into the roadway.

PG&E spokesman Nick Smith said 3,053 PG&E customers lost power in Colma and South San Francisco at 9:18 a.m.

PG&E crews responded and started working on repairs. All but 14 customers had their power restored by 10:28 a.m. and the power lines were cleared from the street, Smith said.

The remaining customers’ power was expected to be restored by 11:15 a.m., he said.

Colma police said as of about 10:45 a.m. that the streets around the crash scene remained closed for investigation.
