DUI Checkpoints in South City This Weekend

DUI checkpoints have been a proven deterrent to drunk driving, police say.

Written by Bay City News

South San Francisco police are planning to heavily patrol the streets Saturday night with the goal of forcing drunken drivers off the city's roadways.

Lt. Keith Wall announced that the department will host a DUI checkpoint at an undisclosed location during the evening hours.

According to police, DUI checkpoints have been proven to be a deterrent to alcohol and/or drug impairment. Officers this weekend plan to also check drivers for proper licensing and evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving.

Funding for the checkpoint is provided to the South San Francisco Police Department through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Safety Administration.
