Five Local High Schools Ranked as Best in the Country
All five schools are ranked as best within the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas

Five Summit high schools–Summit Prep and Summit Everest, located in Redwood City, Summit Shasta in Daly City, as well as Summit Tahoma and Summit Rainier, located in San Jose–were recognized nationally as some of the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. All eligible Summit schools were recognized again. Summit has been ranked consecutively since 2009.
The 2020 U.S. News Best High Schools, released on April 21, ranks nearly 18,000 public high schools out of a review of more than 24,000 nationwide. Summit Shasta was ranked #1 in the Jefferson Union High School District and #96 in the state. Summit Shasta, Summit Everest, and Summit Prep were ranked in the top 100 schools in the San Francisco, CA Metro Area. Summit Tahoma and Summit Rainier were ranked in the top 25 schools in San Jose, CA Metro Area High Schools. The schools are all part of Summit Public Schools, a network of 15 public college-prep schools that serve diverse communities throughout California and Washington.
