Local Boys & Girls Clubs Chapter Announces Indefinite Closure

The San Mateo County School District's announced three-week closure of all local schools factored in its decision, the group said.

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County announced Friday that it will be closed indefinitely amid concerns about the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The group said in a statement that San Mateo County's recently announced three-week closure of all schools (public and private) to prevent the spread of COVID-19 factored in its decision.

The closure goes into effect Monday, March 16.

The group said it will cancel all community sports, club and spring day camp programs until district schools reopen.

“This decision is being made out of an abundance of caution in order to safeguard the well-being of our students, staff, families, and in support of our community’s well-being,” the club said in a statement.
