Man Found Dead at Base of South San Francisco Cliff After Being Chased and Shot

A man found dead at the base of a 30-foot cliff in South San Francisco Tuesday afternoon was shot at by suspects who chased him there from San Francisco on Monday night, according to police.
The body was found along the Bay shoreline at the bottom of a cliff in the 300 block of Point San Bruno Boulevard at about 12:30 p.m., South San Francisco police said.

The San Francisco man had been in a car with two other people who were chased from San Francisco to a dead-end street in the biotech and industrial area of South San Francisco at about 10:30 p.m. Monday, police said. The three victims pulled into the dead-end street chased by two or three suspects in another car. The victims stopped the car and took off running while one of the suspects got out of their car and opened fire, police said. Police initially thought no one was injured in the shooting until the man’s body turned up this afternoon. Once the body was found, the man was identified by family members as one of the three San Francisco residents who had been chased into the area.
Police have not said whether he had been shot or determined exactly how he died.

The suspects’ vehicle, a newer-model silver SUV, turned up at Geneva and Brookdale avenues in San Francisco’s Crocker Amazon neighborhood at about 10:35 a.m., police said.
San Francisco police contacted South San Francisco investigators and let them know they’d found the car. The vehicle was towed for evidence and a person of interest was taken into custody, according to police.
Everyone involved in the chase appears to be a San Francisco resident, police said, though they have not identified any of the suspects or victims.
