Nominate South San Francisco for a chance to win a $20,000 park grant to transform a local park in need!

South San Francisco -- Starting April 1, you can support your local parks by nominating the City of South San Francisco to receive a $20,000 grant from the Meet Me at the Park initiative!
The Meet Me at the Park initiative is a campaign supported by the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company, Disney Citizenship, Disney | ABC Television Group and ESPN to help fund 16 cities nationwide to improve a local park in need of a transformation. From April 1 - April 30, 2017 during Earth Month, people can vote on a daily basis online. The city with the most votes will receive a $20,000 grant to improve a park project. In addition, voters will be entered into a drawing for a computer tablet.
The Meet Me at the Park initiative started in 2014 by the National Recreation and Parks Association to help improve local parks nationwide in order to connect community members to nature, increase accessibility for recreational activities and sports, including the importance of active and healthy living.

Voters are encouraged to take pictures or selfies at their local parks during Earth Month, and promote the campaign through various social media websites by using the hashtags #SouthSanFrancisco #MeetMeAtThePark, #Parkies and #BeInspired.
The South San Francisco Parks and Recreation Department's mission is to provide opportunities for physical, cultural and social well being; protect and enhance the physical environment; and ensure the effective and efficient use of public facilities and open space.
