SFO To Hawaii Flight Lands Safely After In-Flight Scare
A Google engineer sent a series of Tweets, including a video, showing a severely damaged engine.

HONOLULU, HI — A United Airlines flight from San Francisco to Honolulu landed safely Tuesday afternoon, but not before giving passengers and crew a serious scare when parts of an engine fell off.
United flight 1175 declared an emergency, according to the Hawaii Department of Transportation, and was met by fire trucks when it landed. No injuries were reported.
On board the Boeing 777 was Google engineer Erik Haddad, who chronicled the emergency with surprising humor.

The engine trouble happened 36 minutes before the plane's scheduled landing.
Federal investigators will look into the incident.
