SSF Superintendent Hosts Back-To-School Address
Learn of goals planned for the 2019-20 school year for SSFUSD students from South San Francisco, San Bruno and Daly City.
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A back-to-school address for parents and the community for the 2019-20 year is set for Monday, Aug. 12, hosted by South San Francisco Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Shawnterra Moore.
"The start of a new school year is always an exciting time,” Moore said. “Having the opportunity to see our district come together as one, right before school starts, is so inspiring.”
The SSF district, which serves the communities of South San Francisco, San Bruno and Daly City, boasts a highly regarded science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) program and more than 8,000 students at elementary, middle, and high school levels.

The event begins at 8 a.m. at South San Francisco High School Auditorium, 400 B St. in SSF.
Moore will outline the district’s goals for the coming year, the district said.

“We believe that our students are tomorrow’s leaders, and we are committed to helping all students excel, especially our underserved students,” Moore added.
Along with Moore, also in attendance will be district leaders; SSFUSD school board members John Baker, Patricia Murray, Daina Lujan, Eddie Flores, and Mina Richardson; South San Francisco Mayor Karyl Matsumoto; South San Francisco City Councilwoman Buenaflor Nicolas; South San Francisco City Manager Mike Futrell; SSFUSD principals and staff; and community leaders.
