“Despicable Me” is the second Summer Movies in the Park series sponsored by the Studio City Neighborhood Council planned for this Saturday, June 22 at the Studio City Recreation Center, also known as Beeman Park, at 1261 Rye St. in Studio City.
People bring a blanket, chairs and a picnic (no booze) and watch a movie under the stars. There’s a snack bar, refreshments and friends.

* Steve Carell, the voice of Gru, lives locally, and recently dressed as his character to go to the Ellen DeGeneres Show at the Warner Studios in Burbank.
* Jason Segel, the voice of Vector, went to school at Harvard-Westlake in Studio City and was on the 1996 basketball team with Jason Collins, the first pro athlete to come out as gay while on a team.

* Will Arnett, the voice of Mr. Perkins, spent a lot of time in Studio City working on “Up All Night” at the CBS Radford Studios lot and loved the local restaurants.
* Russell Brand, who is a voice in the upcoming sequel “Despicable Me 2,” has been seen a lot around Studio City lately, unnerving a lot of people along Ventura Boulevard. See:
