Apparent Human Waste Rains Onto Studio City Home From Airplane

The family said they were outside in the pool when they noticed foul-smelling droplets falling from a low-flying plane.

STUDIO CITY, CA — One Studio City family received a foul-smelling surprise over the weekend, after what they believe were droplets of human waste fell onto their house from a low-flying plane. The home sits underneath the flight path to the Hollywood Burbank airport, but although they're used to the airplane noise, they never could have prepared for what took place Sunday afternoon.

"They changed the flight path recently and it's very loud," Michelle Steinberg told CBS. "But nothing quite as bad as what happened [Sunday]."

According to the family, they first noticed the awful smell as they were outside in the pool, and quickly jumped out as they saw droplets falling from a plane overhead. Soon after, they saw brown splatters along their patio and house, along with a more pungent stench up close.

The family reported the incident to the FAA, who said they will look into the incident.

“I’ve done a little bit of googling since it happened of course and people say oh, they can’t dump, that’s not how the systems work. but, there could be leaks there could be cracks, there could be problems in the plane, so,” Steinberg said. “Ideally, they get whatever is wrong fixed so it doesn’t happen to anybody else.”
