City Attorney Mike Feuer's office answered a host of questions by the Studio City Neighborhood Council concerning the plethora of medical marijuana businesses in their area following a large committee meeting held a few weeks ago.
Land Use Committee chairman Lisa Sarkin said a lot of the answers are now online for neighborhoods all over Los Angeles.
A total of 54 stakeholders attended the last Land Use Committee meeting that involved the medical marijuana discussions, including many of the shop owners themselves.
Sarkin let's Studio City Patch know, "Please be advised that we are having a joint meeting with the Land Use Committee and Public Safety Committees on Thursday, October 10, 2013,7:00 PM at the CBS Studio Center 4024 Radford Ave. MPR 9. I hope to see you there."
When the city passed Prop D in May, the only medical marijuana businesses allowed were ones that were registered with the city in 2007 and met certain requirements.
In Studio City, only five such businesses met that requirement. On top of that, the businesses cannot be within 600 feet of each other (two of them are), and cannot be within 1,000 feet from a school (one of them is). They would have 180 days to conform or relocate, said Nicole Carcel, Deputy for Community Engagement and Outreach for the City Attorney’s office.
