Dead Body Discovered On Studio City Subway Tracks

Two deaths were reported in the valley this weekend related to pedestrians on the train tracks.

STUDIO CIY, CA — A dead body was discovered on subway tracks at the Universal City/Studio City Sunday afternoon, prompting an investigation from Los Angeles Police Department. The man's body was found around 3:30 p.m. at the subway location of 3901 Lankershim Blvd, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Circumstances of the man's death were unclear. Police were investigating whether then man was hit by a subway train or touched the system's electrified 3rd rail.

The man's name wasn't released while authorities worked to notify family members.

It was the second death involving a pedestrian on the train tracks in the valley this weekend. Saturday morning, a person was struck and killed by an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner in North Hollywood.

Firefighters responded around 9:07 a.m. to the 7100 block of Lankershim Boulevard and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. No injuries were reported aboard the train, and a description of the victim wasn't available.

Service was temporarily delayed for about two hours during a police investigation.
