Fan Scores $9 World Series Tickets Thanks To StubHub Flub

One lucky Dodgers fan scored World Series tickets for $9.08 even though the average ticket costs $3,332.

LOS ANGELES, CA — While some people shelled out more than $13,000 for World series tickets at Dodgers Stadium Wednesday, once lucky fan managed to snag tickets for $9.08 thanks to a snafu on StubHub.

Jordan Benedict couldn’t believe it when he found two Game 2 World Series tickets listed for just $9.08 a piece. The average World Series ticket at Dodgers stadium is $3,332, and many fans are paying enough for a new car for a pair of tickets to see their team’s first World Series since 1988. He immediately snatched up the tickets but was so sure they were too good to be true, he called the StubHub to inform them of the error. And, to his heartbreak, he was right: it was a mistake. Stubhub apologized, refunded his money and dashed his World Series dreams, but Benedict handled it like a champ.

“Since this was such an insane deal I felt the need to reach out to StubHub customer service. They were beyond accommodating and informed me that they would unfortunately be refunding my tickets and giving them back to the seller so they can repost them at the appropriate price,” he wrote on Facebook. “I completely understand the situation that StubHub was in and I am sympathetic with the seller that put them up.”

“What then happened was truly amazing,” wrote Benedict. “This amazing person told me that since it was such an unprecedented event for #MLB #WorldSeries tickets being purchased at such a low price they were going to honor the purchase price and give me 2 tickets in a similar area of the stadium.”

Benedict’s beloved Dodgers may not have gotten the win Wednesday, but if Benedict’s lucky streak holds true, this could be the Dodgers’ year.
