Halle Berry gets followed by shutterbugs when she takes her child, Nahla, to a private school in Studio City (Patch, by the way, has never identified the school).
It has scared the girl, and irritated the Oscar-winning actress, and now she's lobbying California lawmakers to keep the photographers away from her family.
A bill is being proposed that would limit photographers to take pictures of children of public figures. Of course, some believe that the law would violate freedom of the press.
In her testimony to the Assembly Committee of Public Safety, Berry said, "My daughter doesn’t want to go to school because she knows ‘the men’ are watching for her. They jump out of the bushes and from behind cars and who knows where else, besieging these children just to get a photo.”
The anti-harassment bill was drafted by Sen. Kevin de Leon, D-Los Angeles. The bill passed the committee and goes to the Judiciary Committee before the entire Assembly.
